Xaar Omnidot 380 printheads are to play a part in a scientific breakthrough which will allow an inkjet to print human cells. It has not yet been decided who will manufacture the body for the printing device, which will be able to print tissue scaffold and in turn encourage the growth of skin and bone, having significant implications for the treatment of severe disfigurements or burns. Xaar business development manager Rob Harvey said: "The solution used to preserve the cells is similar to the water-based graphic inks the Omnidot was designed for."
